Summary of our updated Data Privacy Policy

CPO Ltd is committed to a policy of protecting the rights and privacy of individuals (includes beneficiaries, staff and others) in accordance with the Data Protection Act. To comply with the law, information about individuals must be collected and used fairly, stored safely and securely and not disclosed to any third party unlawfully.

Every new participant on any of our projects should fill in a form upon enrollment, where they must agree to a statement to allow us access to their personal information (such as name, age and contact details) after having a chance to review our full data protection policy should they wish to.

We only keep data if there is a legitimate interest to do so. If you sign up to one of our programmes we will collect only the data our funders require us to for their paperwork. For volunteers or partner organisations, we will not collect or use any data we do not feel is relevant for your role, our working relationship, or your personal safety.

Both paper and electronic data are stored securely and will not be kept for longer than is deemed necessary. Individuals have the right to request to view or remove their data on CPO’s systems at any time in accordance with the Act, but must be aware that requests may be subject to a fee. Only specific staff members with a legitimate interest in your information will be permitted to access it.

We will not use any personal information without prior consent, and information will only be used for its intended purpose in the way(s) agreed by the individual and CPO. This will usually be things like keeping in contact regarding projects, appointments etc. Where any third parties should require access to an individual’s data, CPO will seek consent before passing on this information to ensure your information is protected.
