Kali’s Songs- £8.99: Kali’s Songs is a book of poems put together by Peter Mullins and illustrated by art student Emily Connor, using an old drawing technique. You can find the book in local bookstores and via Amazon here: amazon.co.uk.
The Women They Left Behind- £5.00: The Women They Left Behind, written by Nick Triplow and Tina Bramhill, gives long overdue recognition to the wives, mothers, sisters and daughters of men whose occupation was 14 times more dangerous than coal-mining. It also takes a closer look at the role of Grimsby’s fishermen during the two World Wars, their involvement in the Cod Wars and the subsequent fight for compensation. The Women They Left Behind is sold in local bookstores.
Distant Water- £5.00: The year-long Distant Water project saw writer Nick Triplow work with writer and designer Tina Bramhill, graduate historian Sophie James and CPO volunteers to collect stories from fishermen. These stories, along with historical research were compiled to produce a book, online educational materials, create an oral archive and present a free-to-view exhibition at the Fishing Heritage Centre which was launched in May 2011.
